Marketing Officer

As Marketing Officer of the Northumbria Girls Who Run Society, I have led the planning and execution of all marketing efforts across social media, email and events, including overseeing a team of Content Creators. The goal: to encourage more girls to join the society and strengthen its reputation as a wellness club which empowers women through fitness and community.

Results

In the first month:

  • Grown the Instagram followers from 654 to 1.2K (+88%)

  • 354K profile views on Instagram in the last 30 days

  • Grown the TikTok followers from 52 to 527 (+913%)

  • One TikTok with 24K views, another with 18K

  • Enhanced branding- new, optimised logo and ensuring consistency with fonts, colours and tone

  • Verbal feedback from students that they love our social media content and it convinced them to join the society

  • 210 students bought memberships

  • 55 attendees at our first run

  • Local businesses such as Deep North, Sunday Coffee and Kitchen and Tide Outdoor Fitness and Lululemon have reached out to us wanting to collaborate

Key Projects

Merchandise

Organised a new merchandise line, from market research, design, and coordinating final production and ordering.

  • Led on all communications with vendors

  • Conceptualised, shot, and edited a promotional photoshoot to effectively launch and market the new merchandise to members

Sip ‘N’ Paint Event

Successfully hosted our first social- a cosy Sip ‘N’ Paint with a high attendance of 60.

  • Coordinated a successful partnership with the external venue, One Kitchen and Social, Jesmond

  • Managed all end-to-end logistics, including sourcing supplies, creating and managing the sign-up system, and completing venue setup

Breast Cancer Awareness Fun Run

Organised, and hosted a large-scale Pink Fun Run in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, successfully managing all logistical and promotional elements.

  • Coordinated and managed collaboration across multiple university societies to maximise community engagement and participation in the event

  • Raised £200 in donations for the charity Breast Cancer Now

Movember Run The Distance

Helped organise a fundraiser event for Movember, in collaboration with Northumbria’s running and athletics society. A 60K challenge, running 5K every hour for 12 hours.
